Philadelphia Phillies win big, but Stubbs steals the show!

Philadelphia Phillies win big A trip of. It does not sound like 500 miles at all. . . but at least they did better than they did at the beginning of the week and it has to be considered a victory. They passed the Royals 11-3 on Sunday at Kauffman Stadium and this followed the best game of what had been a trip.

The team has only won three series since the All-Star break, all against the Nationals and the Dodgers. The Braves lost today to the Nationals, giving them a six-game lead in the NL East. In their last ten games, they’re 6-4. What’s more, it looks like the Phillies have gained some momentum during their 13-game stretch against teams that are already in the running for a playoff place.

Between the Braves series and the Royals series, the changes at the plate have been like night and day. The Phillies didn’t hit a home run in any of the three games they played against the Braves. They also struck out 32 times. They struck out 24 times in Kansas City, but they scored 26 runs and hit three home runs.

There aren’t many times the Phillies play the Royals, but they did know starting starter Seth Lugo. Lugo played most of his career with the Mets. On Sunday, he made his 35th start against the Phillies. He only got the side out of the game once, and 11 hits led to six runs, five of which were earned.

After a night in which he drove in seven runs and hit two home runs, J.T. Realmuto was not set to play again. Garrett Stubbs took his place and made his first start in a week. He kept things going for the Phillies’ catchers.

At bat for the first time that day, Stubbs hit a triple down the right-field line. He hit his first triple of the year. Soon after, Kyle Schwarber hit a first-pitch double to center field, bringing him home. It was without a doubt Stubbs’ best game of the season. This was the best game for the backup catcher so far. He had four hits, was on base five times, and drove in a run.

After the game, manager Rob Thomson said in a jokey way, “I looked pretty smart putting Stubby in there today.” “Always give credit when it’s due.” He was great. We were off to a good start with the triple and the big two-strike double down the left-field line. He did really well today, yes.”

For his part, Stubbs couldn’t have been happier with how he did: You’ve never felt better.” It helped us score 11 runs, and it lets our pitcher rest a bit and enjoy the last few innings, which is always a good thing when you’re trying to win a series against a strong team.

The team scored a few runs in the sixth inning, which began with a hit to right field by Brandon Marsh. With two hits and two walks, he got on base four times without getting out.

Nick Castellanos hit the last big hit of the day, a two-run home run that made it two straight 11-run games for the Phillies. Because the Phillies had 16 hits that day, each player had at least one hit.

The Astros haven’t decided who will start the series yet, but the Phillies will have Zack Wheeler (12-6, 2.73 ERA), Aaron Nola (11-6, 3.45 ERA), and Cristopher Sanchez (9-9, 3.51 ERA) at the top of their staff. This also sets up Wheeler and Nola to face the Braves first.

This season, both right-handed starters who have faced Atlanta have done a good job. While Wheeler is 0-1 with a 1.50 ERA, he has struck out 13 batters in his two games.

Every time Nola plays the Braves, they always win. This would be his 37th game against the foe in this division. He has had a good last two games (1-0), with a 3.97 earned run average and 13 strikeouts.

They will need to be at the top of their game for a match that could really shake up the division.
